It’s Official

I did infact get 3 ‘A’ and the ‘C’ in Algebra. Guess dad was right, ‘C’s do get degrees! I still prefer the ‘A’s though. Well Dan arrives in less thenĀ 2 weeks, and Ashley leaves in about 4 weeks. I am sure excited about this summer. I think I am going to get a simple job working at a local store for the summer.

time flies!

I seems like just a few days ago that I blogged last! I gues it has been a little longer then that. I am finally sitting back and relaxing a little, since finals are over. I found out today that I have 2 confirmed ‘A’s and I got a ‘C’ in Algebra. I am still waiting on my grade in one class but I am certain I got an ‘A’ in that class.

I am working on putting together a special surprise for Ashley’s teachers. I am still subing and working on the house. Paul finally got his router so we are starting to make the trim for the windows and doors. That of course means more work for me. I get to sand, stain and finish all that wood. I can’t wait until we can put a done stamp on a whole room! Of course the more we get done the more we have to do.

snakes on the loose

dcam0011.JPGWe found a boa constrictor in the neighbors back yard the other day. It fell from a tree while trying to eat a bird. Paul was able to mostly kill it so I could take pictures before he had to cut it’s head off.

Emergency room visit

Thursday night Ashley came out of her room hysterical because her earing back was missing! It was inside her piercing hole! The earing back had over time worked its way into her ear lobe.dcam0041.JPGWhich was a very unique situation I had never encountered before, even with all of my piercings. So I called the nurse line and was told head straight to the emergency room to have it removed.dcam0046.JPG

The ER doctor was great, he numbed the ear lobe, then worked the back out of the hole. She was such a brave trooper, she cried only slightly when they injected the Novocaine and laid perfectly still through the whole event. Now we just have to wait for things to heal a bit before we put earing with backs on again. I think we will use safty backs for a few years til she is older.

Under Construction…again

Last Tuesday Paul decided to put a hole in another wall. He finally moved the back door from in the kitchen to in the dining room. I had been putting this project off because it was not as simple as it sounds. We also needed to frame in around the rear stairs to making a refrigerator closet. Well by Tuesday night the new door was in place…dcam0030.JPGdcam0016.JPG Along with the new window. We also got to add insulation to the wall and add a few extra square feet to the house.

My dining room and kitchen look huge. Of course now I have to clean up the mess that is left after construction projects. We still have siding to fix, and trim and casings to finish and a little more drywall and paint. But the major construction part is done for now.

busy, busy, busy

Well I am working a lot more now. The school has me in as a substitute almost everyday I am available. I am getting more comfortable with the classes and it is exciting because there are kids who know me in almost every class.

I have made some contacts through school that have become invaluable to me with my efforts here in Chatham County. I am working on making changes here in within the Board of Education. Paul is helping by sending e-mails to important people, and we are getting noticed. So noticed in fact that the fundraising efforts for a playground for Ashley’s school are no longer necessary. We have been told that the Board is going to step up and that Islands Elementary will have an appropiate playground with fencing and walking paths before school starts next year.

Ashley is doing great! She made High honor roll for another quarter. She is really into Highlights puzzle books and Webkins. We are still working on special projects here at home, but with the big tests comming up here in a week we are taking a break from those projects to just let her relax. She has started martial arts and loves it. We try to get her to classes at leas 3 days week.

Crap!

Okay there are less then two weeks left of the regular semester before finals. I am starting to feel swamped. I have an 8-10 page paper due for Civilizations class about human rights. I have 2 papers and 1 final persuasive speech to prepare for Speech Comm class. For Macroecon I have a quiz and a final test which is about the only things I don’t really have to worry about at this time. Then Finally I have Algebra, We just got through logarithms and now we are on to systems. I am surviving however I have a cumulitive final in that class. That scares me big time since it could make or break my grade.

On another note, I am working a lot! I am subing every day I am available this week. I am in Ashley’s school all the time!

This is histerical

More Fund-raiser

WSAV had a great story about our fundraiser last night.

http://www.wsav.com/midatlantic/sav/news/education_.apx.-content-articles-SAV-2008-03-31-0017.html

I think I might be able to actually post the video but since my brother (who has a life) can’t answer his phone right now I don’t know how to do it.

Playground Fund-raiser

Tonight we had a fund-raiser at a local business for Islands Elementary playground. This was huge deal because a local business was so excited to help they offered to donate a nights proceeds to the cause. I hope to post links to the news coverage, it was a great event.
