Thanks to my techno savvy brother I have finally found a program that allows me to re-size my pictures so I can begin posting pictures again. So here is the long awaited pictures that everyone has been bugging me about.Here are pictures of Ashley’s costume on Halloween with her laying in the coffin Paul made in our front yard. Also pictures of the treats Ashley and I made for her class for the Halloween party in Ashley’s class.

For Ashley’s Birthday she used her birthday money to buy a remote control airplane. This is picture of Ashley at the neighborhood park flying her plane. Next to that is a picture of Ashley’s summer reading project. She read a Boxcar Children’s book and made a shoe box diorama of the book she read. She was reading with this on the first day of school and got a great grade on it.

Finally this is a picture of Ashley with her cake at her birthday party.

Well here are a few of the pictures I have been meaning to upload so everyone can see Ashley and how she is doing. The top picture is of her first day of school and the lower picture is of Ashley getting one of her presents at her birthday. Rayman Raving Rabbits has become a family favorite. Now we just need more controllers so everyone can play together at the same time. Guess that will be Christmas.

Garage sale

Well I had a garage sale last weekend at my friends house on Tybee. My stuff I was selling was pretty successful. I am going to give it one more try this weekend at our house, then we decided whatever was left was going to goodwill. I have cleaned out Ash’s room, the attic, and most of the other rooms in the house. The garage itself has not been cleaned out, but that is not my area. I am in my final countdown to seeing Ash again, I miss that little girl so much! I can’t wait to see her, and especially all the surprises we have have for her.

This is the built in bookshelf under her bed, that will have the convertable chair next to it, you can see it already has her books and toys all ready for her.

This is the new chest of drawers Paul built the bed around. As you can see there is even a little cubby next to it for Ash to keep her ripstick, helmet and pads in. That way is it always ready to go when she is.

These are the great built-ins that Paul made, as you can see in the first picture they are spaced on either side of her closet door and they are the perfect place for Ashley to display all of her precious keepsakes.

Keep in mind that all of these changes are a surprise to Ashley, she thinks we have painted her walls orange and furniture black and knocked holes in her walls for no reason. I want her to be surprised when she comes home to find a room she can really use.

Well work continues here in Savannah. The lazy susan we ordered was finally delivered for the kitchen corner cabinet so Paul took some time to install that. Now he is working on the doors, which we need. Here is the cach 22, there are no doors on our kitchen cabinets, it is just simply too hot outside to work out there, so for Paul to build and finish the doors he has to make a dusty mess inside, the dusty mess inside is why I need doors on the cabinets. Right now you have to wash any dish you grab to use cause everything is covered in dust. This is crazy, I hope we get to a better spot with all this soon.

Ash’s room has been fun this summer cause it is getting a total facelift. First of all she is getting a new twin size bed, there is no reason for her to be in a full other then that was the mattress size we had. So Paul built a new loft bed over a chest of drawers. Under the bed is a builtin bookshelf with room for a convertable chair from IKEA. This chair will fold out to a 2nd bed for over night guests such as sleep overs and Dan when he visits. This makes a great reading area to curl up with a good book otherwise. The only other furniture in her room will be her desk for homework and her cedar chest that holds her special blankets and stuff. Paul also finished the builtins in the wall so she can display her favorite knick knacks.

I will upload some pictures a little later, I have to make the file sizes smaller!

Children are gone

Well the house is child free! Danny has come and gone and Ashley is in Minnesota enjoying her summer vacation there. My mother suggested that I use my extra free time to post an update here. Well that was a good suggestion. Let’s see… construction continues throughout the house. We are currently waiting on the delivery of our lazy susan to be able to complete the upper cabinets in the kitchen. The lower cabenits are on hold momentarily due to other projects. I have side tracked Paul for the moment from the kitchen to work on some changes to Ashley’s room while she is gone. We use the time in the summer when we are child free to completely empty, clean and redo Ashley’s room. That way I know that at least once a year it is cleaned my way. This year we are redesigning her loft bed to give her a reading area underneath along with her dresser. We have also taken the time to blow insulation into all the exterior walls in her room. Finally Paul has taken a page from HGTV’s Wasted Spaces and decided to build in 2 shelf units between the studs on her interior wall. Once painted we will add adjustable shelves. There will be a matching one on the other side of her closet. This will be a place for her to display her favorite things, or her books or maybe some of both. As we get projects completed I will try to post pictures, but all of this is a suprise for Ashley. She knows we are changing her room and knocking holes in the walls but she is not sure why. We only give her small pieces of the picture. I guess I am going to go pour over more paint samples. I HATE picking paint colors, especially for Ashley when she is not here.

New metal roof

Here are some pictures to show our new metal roof. Paul has spent the last week or more putting this roof on, sometimes even in the rain. It had rained for more then 10 days straight and we had started taking on small amounts of water, drips here and there. Those drips were only going to get bigger and cause more damage if Paul didn’t get something up on the roof to stop them. So working in the drizzling rain was his choice.

The next project is siding, even if we have to buy it one box at a time. Siding and windows and insulation are actually a combined project, since windows will effect interior and exterior walls we might as well insulate the walls and do the exterior siding all together. The great part about all of this is President Obama is paying me back for making my home more valuable!!!

Graduation
