I seems like just a few days ago that I blogged last! I gues it has been a little longer then that. I am finally sitting back and relaxing a little, since finals are over. I found out today that I have 2 confirmed ‘A’s and I got a ‘C’ in Algebra. I am still waiting on my grade in one class but I am certain I got an ‘A’ in that class.

I am working on putting together a special surprise for Ashley’s teachers. I am still subing and working on the house. Paul finally got his router so we are starting to make the trim for the windows and doors. That of course means more work for me. I get to sand, stain and finish all that wood. I can’t wait until we can put a done stamp on a whole room! Of course the more we get done the more we have to do.

Okay there are less then two weeks left of the regular semester before finals. I am starting to feel swamped. I have an 8-10 page paper due for Civilizations class about human rights. I have 2 papers and 1 final persuasive speech to prepare for Speech Comm class. For Macroecon I have a quiz and a final test which is about the only things I don’t really have to worry about at this time. Then Finally I have Algebra, We just got through logarithms and now we are on to systems. I am surviving however I have a cumulitive final in that class. That scares me big time since it could make or break my grade.

On another note, I am working a lot! I am subing every day I am available this week. I am in Ashley’s school all the time!

Tomorrow is the big day! The day this town waits for all year! St. Patrick’s Day, the largest celebration, or at least one of the largest in the country. Ash is ready, with her green from head to foot and I have my shirt ready too. This year we have friends who go ahead and stake out areas in downtown squares and basically host giant block parties, with food and beverages. Ash and I will be attending one of these parties and I am so excited. We will get to watch the parade, have fun with friends and eat good food. Paul unfortunately has to work.

On another note, I have become gainfully employed again! I am working as a substitute teacher for Savannah Chatham County Schools.

It is officially Spring Break for me! This is my chance to catch up on homework and studying while also catching up on cleaning this house. I also get the joy and pleasure of working this week. I am looking forward to getting caught up. It is funny, most of the kids I am in class with were talking last week about where they are going to vacation this week. I am just happy to have a week to concentrate on catching up.

I guess that’s what happens when you are a non-traditional student in a traditional setting. At least I am keeping my grades up! Last week I got a 93% on a Macro test, and 88% on an Algebra test. I am also celebrating a 98% in Civilizations mid-term and also a 98% on my first graded speech.

Well Monday is the big day for my substitute teaching career. I get to finish all the paperwork and start working. I am also working in all of my other projects such as tutoring, and fundraising. I am working with one of my college prof’s to get grant monies for the school and to help raise the test score for our students with extra help and tutoring.

There are so many other things going on right now it is amazing. Paul is working on planning a family reunion for his side of the family. His boys are all planning to be here in mid June so he figured that he might as well invite the whole family to get together.

It also seems that a friend of mine from Minnesota is going to be moving down here for a while, so we are working on those arraingments. Things are so many things going on I don’t even think I can do justice explaining it all right now. So I am off to start studing.

Yesterday while I was in Econ class, my phone started to ring. Fourtunatly I remebered to put it on silent or I would have been in major trouble. After class I was able to hear the message and was surprised to hear the subsititute teacher co-ordinator for the Savannah- Chatham Board of Education leaving the the message.

OOPS!! Let me go back a minute. After finding out last week that I was a wateraholic, my husband sent e-mails to each of the elected members of the Board of Education. This is the portion that applied to me.

“In your school system it has been widely publicized that there is a severe shortage of qualified teaching staff, how is it that a potential substitute teacher is declined a position because of a negative dilute drug test? The negative dilute test simply means that they drank too much water, the negative means that there is absolutely no trace of drugs or alcohol in their system, why are they being excluded for a period of 3 months? How about a retest? There are very few teachers available in this district. The official dilute simply means that the color of the urine was not within the color hue specified. This horrifies me to understand that you have discarded a potential teacher because they have consumed too much healthy water.”

Anyway long story short I am headed off this morning for a retest, because “several tests came back same as mine” and so it was decided to retest all of us. Coffee only till after the test!
