Well okay, only 2 dogs. Yesterday morning I entered a post about how we had just got this cute new dog named Sadie, however that same night our Black Lab Rio had somehow got away. Well Paul looked things over more when he got home from work and found foot prints in the back that were not ours. That along with the damage to our gate suggested that someone had taken our dog Rio. I as commenting to Paul that of any dog, she would be the one to find her way home though since she had lived on this block since she was tiny pup. A short while later Paul went to the store, and when he was almost back he saw Rio running up the road we live on! He called me to come get her, since she hates riding in cars. She is now on a run line in the back yard, and she is happy to be home.

Paul was so happy to have her back and upset by the nerve of the person who tried to take her (for whatever reason) Paul welded the fence. He got the welder out, fixed the spots that were weak or not working correctly, then he welded on metal straps so we can lock it and also locked the other side. He reminds me that this is only “reasonable” security since it is only a 3 foot tall chain link fence, but I feel better already.

I will take some pictures of her in her cute outfits and post them soon! I have however promised not to put bows on her ears!

I was all excited this morning to write a post today telling everyone that we got a new dog last night. Since Muppet has been gone the house has seemed calm and quite. We decided that Muppet was gone for good since we had heard nothing from the humane society and had no response from the neighborhood signs.

So yesterday we made arraingments to pick up a new sweet Schnoodle named Sadie. She is a 6 year old Schnauser Poodle mix. She has beautiful brown eyes and well groomed black hair. She is sweet as could be and loves to wear cute clothes.

Then this morning Paul got up to go to work and found out gate was open, the wrong way. He didn’t think too much about it, he just headed to work. When Ashley woke up and went to take Sadie out and Found that Rio was gone. Her chain was there and in one piece, but the dog was gone. Paul thinks someone came in the yard and took her. So we got 1 dog and lost another. As Paul said this morning we are not doing well with this whole dog thing. I am not letting this new dog run free in the yard though, She will be on a chain or leash always.

Pictures of the new dog to follow soon.

Then Paul saw this little kitten helpless and barely weaned from his mother with fleas and sores all over him. Then ‘Lucky’ went to the vet with me. Once the vet gave him a mostly clean bill of health, he came home and joined the rest of the cats. The one thing we had to do was treat all his wounds and give him medicine so they didn’t get infected. The first few weeks were pretty tough, the other 3 cats didn’t want anything to do with him, and he was a feisty little guy and had no problem walking up and hissing and smacking any cat in his way.

<place></place>Rio came to us by way of our backyard fence. The neighbors behind us had this cute tiny puppy when they moved in back in February. She was a cute little yapping black fur ball named ‘Bear’. We watched her grow and heard her yap all the time. We noticed she was growing but slowly and did not have much meat on her under all the fur. We started to sneak food to her over the fence and began to notice she had no shelter from the weather and seldom any food or water. Finally in May, Paul and I decided we would go ask her owners if they even wanted the dog. He owners gladly handed her over and she gladly ran the whole way to her new fenced in yard. Daniel and I got her a new collar and some toys, and when Paul went to remove her old collar we found her skin was beginning to grow around the collar and choke her. We decided at that point we decided to change her name from ‘Bear’ to ‘

<place></place>Rio’. We thought that was more girly and a new name for a new and better life. We knew then that it was a good thing we got her. Paul and Daniel built her a dog house, a nice place where she can hide in the shade. Since then she is eating and growing like a bad weed. We originally thought she was a runt, but now we are finding out that she was just starved. Not only was she starved for food but also attention and training. When we tried to bring her into the house for the first time she was so scared, and when we finally got her inside(because it was just TOO hot outside for her to stay out) she spent most of the time cowered in the corner afraid of the cats. So now she loves the attention from the kids, but is so big and excitable that she tends to run us all over if we let her. Training her is a slow process but we are working on it every day. The yapping all night has already almost stopped just from having a full stomach, and she is learning ‘sit’. She also does much better when coming in the house. Now we are trying to teach her ‘fetch’ and ‘down’. Ashley loves to go out and play with her several times a day and loves to help train her with lots of treats.
