Update

Well here we are, the 9th of January! I missed out on the January Substitute Teaching orientation class yesterday because of computer issues (operator error, I think!) I am still volunteering at Ash’s school 3 days a week. Today I actually helped some of the gifted kids from her class, they are working on a media festival project where they are researching an animal and making a web page about that animal. School starts tomorrow for me, and I have Ash all worked out so she still does not have to ride a bus.

I guess I will have to go to orientation in February. I also found out that There is sudden opening on the PTA. I am being nominated for the position of Vice President. I am working closely with the head of the school council to work with the Board of Education on some major issues around the school. I am actively involved with many areas of the school, and I found out today that depending on my degree, if I am hired by a Title 1 school (which Islands Elementary is) part of my student loans may be forgiven. I am looking into the specifics so I can tailor things just right. I am loving being so involved, it really helps me feel connected.
