Anniversary dinner
Yesterday was a half day of school for the kids in our county, so Ashley and I were home early. Nana and Grandpa took Ashley off to visit Bonaventure cemetery while I went shopping for groceries. Paul and I planned to cook them a nice dinner for their anniversary. We made steaks and pork chops on the grill. I steamed fresh green beans, yellow squash, carrots and snow peas together with fresh dill. I made mashed yams, and warmed up a loaf of 5 grain bread. We also had wild rice. It was a great meal and everyone seamed to enjoy it. I guess I might have learned to cook a little this last year. While Paul and I were preparing dinner, the central air conditioning decided to quit working and take a fuse with it. We replaced the fuse and kept right on with our evening, only we had to turn the house fan back on to keep the house comfortable. After dinner we had frozen yogert with fresh berries. It was all pretty good, now I just get to try and figure out what we need to do to get a new central heat and air unit. Paul worked on the air unit today and it is confirmed that the compressor is fried, so now starts the process of getting bids to replace it. Paul believes a new compressor will be 700-900 dollars, and that is just to replace a part in a still 15+ year old unit. Or we can spend a little more money and replace the whole mess and have a new unit with a warrenty. I guess that’s a no brainer.
