My bus route
Today is day 9 of school, and have now been handed route #3. I get to learn yet another route and another group of kids. Only this time I am supposed to drive this route morning and afternoon. We are trying to find a route that allows me to drive to Islands Elementary (Ashley’s school) and gets Ashley and I home from the route by 4:15 in the afternoon so we can have time for family time. I am working with the contract manager to find a route that works for my schedule. He is working with me because he and the assistant manager allowed me to believe I could work mornings only, and now with the union situation I am not able to anymore. The contract manager believes that because I am willing work with them and work both morning and afternoon routes he is willing to work with me and let me set the rules of my work schedule. My new route… once I get a bus that works… will start at 6:45 a.m. and be done by 8:45 a.m. and the afternoons will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The high school I will drive is right down the road from home and the school I park my bus at. Of course the elementary school is Islands and not far from home either. Ashley and I should be able to keep a pretty normal routine.
