Same games different school year
It’s Friday morning, the last day of the first week of school. Last night at 8 p.m. (which is bus driver bedtime at my house) my dispatcher called my home phone (which I don’t answer) and left a message saying there was change to my route. My body says this day could not have come at a better time, I’m exhausted. I go into work at 5 a.m. hoping my bus is fixed today. When I get there I am told that my bus is at the alignment shop and will not be until later this morning. Well at least it’s getting fix! My dispatcher grabs me and tells me that there is not a change in my route, they are taking my route away to give to someone else and giving me a route in a different part of town (which I am not familiar with) effective today. I am not familiar with that part of town, as a matter of fact I have no idea where “that part of town is”, and the elementary portion of the route goes no where near Ashley’s school.
I have a very simple basic agreement with Stephanie that I am working a.m. route only, and will be able to transport my own child to her elementary school. I found out today that Stephanie went into the hospital yesterday and is having surgery today. So because Stephanie is gone my supervisor gets to play around with my route and schedule. I walked into the contract managers office and explained that I had had enough and would be going home until someone could figure out a way for me to transport my child to school. My contract manager likes me because i don’t often complain and I do my job, everyday. He made it so I would be able to drive my assigned route this morning, and would work with the supervisors to get me on an acceptable route by tomorrow so I can have time to check it out over the weekend.
I have decided once Stephanie gets back to her job I am getting our agreement in writing so the supervisors quit trying to do this. They did the same type of stuff last year while she was out sick too. The bonus this year is that contract manager is aware of my expectations and feels they are reasonable.
