More construction

I finally figured out the almost perfect job! The hours are flexible, the commute is almost non-exhistant, the benefits are great, unfourtunatly the pay is not great. It’s being Paul’s wife!!! He is working on constuction projects again. Last weekend we found out we have 100 amp service to the house but still have a 50 amp fuse panel. So he decided to take out the old 50 amp fuse box and replace it with a 100 amp breaker panel. This is great for us because we are able to spread the various legs in the house over many more breakers. This will hopefully resolve the issues of tripping fuses. Also this will mean no more buying fuses! Yeah!!!!

I am going to start catching up on Ashley’s scrapbook this week. I have to go through the pictures on the computer and get them printed so I can get them in a book.

Childless!!!

Comments have been made about how long it has been since I blogged last. Unfourtunatly since Ashley left there is not alot to write about, and now that Dan is gone I really have even less to write about. I am cleaning and still looking for a job. I have to figure out what classes I am going to take this fall. I rearrainged Ashley’s room and cleaned everything getting things ready for her return, but basically I hate going in her empty room now. I am going to start my yearly scrapbooking push soon. Nothing new to report otherwise.

boat canopy

Well as Paul noted in his post about the shark fishing, him and I worked together to design and make a canvas cover for the boat to offer much needed protection from the sun. I finally got pictures to post of what it looks like!

The fabric is dark and keeps the heat in, but it was also on sale and good outdoor fabric.

Lots to catch up on!

I finally got the pictures out of my digital camera, so here goes!!!

Dan and Paul went fishing and crabbing off a pier near our house. dcam0067.JPG

They caught a mess of crab which we had for dinner.dcam0066.JPG

Ashley’s school had history night and Ashley was one of the 1st grade presenters. She was educating visitors about Teddy Roosevelt.05-29-08_1707.jpg

Ashley tested in Karate for her yellow belt last week too!06-06-08_1813.jpg06-06-08_1904.jpg

We made very special pottery gifts this last week too. We made plaques for Ashley’s teachers, a special plate for our house, father’s day gifts (which Paul got early due to travel arrangements) and some other little gifts.dcam0086.JPGdcam0088.JPGdcam0089.JPGdcam0090.JPGdcam0091.JPG

Finally today was the end of the year award ceremony for first graders. Ashley received a few awards.dcam0029.JPGdcam0036.JPGdcam0045.JPG

Tomorrow is her “Fun Day” which is basically track and field day, and Thursday is her end of the year party. I am in charge of the party and I am trying some new ideas out for treats for the kids. I will post pictures once I get them finished. I hope they will be as cute as I am picturing in my mind!

Fishing with Danny

This morning we took my Bass boat to the ocean to see what we would catch, Armed with shrimp as bait, a few down riggers that we made last night and a new canopy on the boat. This morning was very fruitful. Within 10 minutes after reaching the ocean we landed one Shark each, neither of us had ever caught a Shark in our life. Danny was excited as you may have guessed. Next problem was that I had forgotten a pliers to remove the darn hooks. We caught 3 total. I managed to get the hooks out without incident or loss of limb. I have to tell you that when a ship goes past (Railroad lines ship) that you gain a new respect for swells, WOW. Anyway, here are the pictures we took while trying to catch them.06-02-08_0911.JPG06-02-08_0910.JPG06-02-08_0826.JPG06-02-08_0825.JPG

Sorry, been a crazy week

Starting last Sunday, the tornado that ripped through Hugo actually hit across the street from my parents house. Their house sustained significant damage, but at least it is still standing. My father was sleeping in bed less then 5 minutes before the storm ripped through and put holes in the walls of that room. For pictures visit my brothers blog…

I also was busy making props for history night at my daughters school. Her school is the only elementary Guilder Lehrmen History school in this country and receives significant grants because of this. The head man from Guilder Lehrmen was at the school for history night and we wanted to make a great impression. He is truly surprised at how much we can tie history into the curriculum. We are looking for a fewgood seamstresses that might be willing to donte sotime to great cause and help us to build a wardrob of period piece costumes. If you are willing and able please let me know I will ship fabric and patterns.

Daniel also arrived this week so we are having all kinds of fun visiting the beach and playing.

We also recieved word this week that Ashley’s school is getting a new principle! This is great news the school needs new blood and excitement to keep these great kids moving forward. Well this is all I have for now. I ill comment more tomorrow. I am sewing a few different projects myself.

Beach Bum

Friday was a half day of school for the kids in Chatham County. It was also the official “Beach Bum” Parade on Tybee. This parade is the official welcome of the summer tourist season. It is also a giant mile long water fight! As you are driving down the only road to Tybee you are greeted with a flashing sign that says “giant water fight ahead” “roll up windows”. We now have great friends who live on Tybee so it is nice to have a place to park and friends to enjoy these celebrations with. I had purchased each of us great big super soakers and we were ready, we had a constant water supply and bucketsas well, mother nature even decided to join us with some rain, not that anyone really noticed since we were all wet anyway. We truely enjoyed a great parade and when it was over we packed up all our gear and pulled ur wagon and cooler and all the kids back to the house to have a barbeque. Paul, Ashley and I spent the night with our friends and in the morning Ashley was not done playing with her friends so she decided to stay for the rest of the weekend. What a great time we all had!

It’s Official

I did infact get 3 ‘A’ and the ‘C’ in Algebra. Guess dad was right, ‘C’s do get degrees! I still prefer the ‘A’s though. Well Dan arrives in less then 2 weeks, and Ashley leaves in about 4 weeks. I am sure excited about this summer. I think I am going to get a simple job working at a local store for the summer.

time flies!

I seems like just a few days ago that I blogged last! I gues it has been a little longer then that. I am finally sitting back and relaxing a little, since finals are over. I found out today that I have 2 confirmed ‘A’s and I got a ‘C’ in Algebra. I am still waiting on my grade in one class but I am certain I got an ‘A’ in that class.

I am working on putting together a special surprise for Ashley’s teachers. I am still subing and working on the house. Paul finally got his router so we are starting to make the trim for the windows and doors. That of course means more work for me. I get to sand, stain and finish all that wood. I can’t wait until we can put a done stamp on a whole room! Of course the more we get done the more we have to do.

snakes on the loose

dcam0011.JPGWe found a boa constrictor in the neighbors back yard the other day. It fell from a tree while trying to eat a bird. Paul was able to mostly kill it so I could take pictures before he had to cut it’s head off.
